Portes du Soleil

The Portes du Soleil is an immense ski domain that crosses the borders of both France and Switzerland.  The Portes du Soleil is well known as one of the biggest ski areas in Europe and indeed the World.  The area was named after a border pass between France and Switzerland and was created during the 1980's.

The Portes du Soleil is made up of 14 different ski resorts which are all skiable under just one ski pass.  8 of the ski resorts are in France and the remaining 6 are in Switzerland.  On the French side of the border, the resorts are Abondance, Avoriaz, la Chappelle d'Abondance, Chatel, Les Gets, Montriond, Morzine and St Jean d'Aulps.  On the Swiss side of the border, the resorts are Champery, Val d'Illiez, Les Crozets, Champoussin, Morgins and finally Torgon.

It really is a winter and summer sports paradise.
